Entry restrictions

  1. All images must have been taken in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. They can be native or migrant wild species. Also non-indigenous wild species that reside permanently in the UK. British wildlife subjects photographed in a studio setting or a captive environment are eligible provided this information is supplied when submitting images. Exotic wildlife photographed in British zoos, or safari parks or similar locations are not eligible.

  2. Digital processing, such as contrast, selective exposure and colour adjustments, removal of dust marks, and sharpening is acceptable. Digital manipulation, including composite images and the addition and/or subtraction of objects is prohibited. Images should retain their naturalism and integrity.

  3. Images that have won other major competitions are ineligible. A picture that has already won a prize (winner, runner-up or commended) in a major competition (ie one receiving more than 500 images)  national or international, cannot be entered in BWPA.
