The judges will be looking for an imaginative and original image that powerfully portrays the importance of the environment and ecosystems that sustain the wildlife within them. This can include animals, plants, and the relationships between them; for example a butterfly feeding on wild flowers or a barn owl hunting over rough grassland.
The Wildlife Trusts were formed across the length and breadth of the UK by the 1960s, in response to the widespread devastation of our natural habitats. Ancient woodlands, lakes, meadows, moors, islands, estuaries and beaches were all rescued in an urgent drive to save our natural heritage for future generations.
There are 47 individual Wildlife Trusts covering the whole of the UK and the Isle of Man and Alderney. Together The Wildlife Trusts are the largest UK voluntary organisation dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild places everywhere – at land and sea.
The Trusts are supported by more than 800,000 members, 150,000 of which belong to the junior branch - Wildlife Watch. Every year The Wildlife Trusts work with thousands of schools and welcome millions of visitors to nature reserves and visitor centres.
